Creatures of the StarBush
According to lore whispered along the Nova Scotia shoreline, Greebs are cosmic vegetative travelers that drifted down from the upper branches of the interstellar StarBush. They nested into coastal lichens, taking tactile form through hand-pulled inks, duck canvas, and aromatic cedar.
StarBush Greeb: Lichen Sprout #07
A living talisman from the interstellar canopy. Greebs are ancient symbiotic spores that fell through the upper branches of the StarBush to nest in coastal moss. Each entity is individually printed, stuffed with cedar, and given its own name and marking.
“The Lichen Sprout awakens during dense fog along the Atlantic coast. It absorbs ambient quietness and emits a gentle botanical calm.”
Hand-Pulled Screenprint
Screenprinted by Troy using non-toxic archival inks on sturdy cotton canvas.
Aromatic Forest Fill
Stuffed with natural Canadian cedar shavings, releasing soothing woodland scent.
Unique Entity
No two entities share identical stitches or ink registration. Each is numbered and signed.
Studio Field Notes & Handcraft
In an era of digital haste, Troy’s practice remains deliberately slow and tactile—embracing wood dust, screenprint registration imperfections, and fragrant cedar fill.
Squeegees, Mesh & Archival Inks
Screenprinting in DartmouthEvery silkscreen print starts with hand-drawn ink films on translucent vellum. Exposed under high-intensity ultraviolet light, each color separation is manually pulled across French Paper Co. Speckletone cream using water-based archival inks.
Nocturnal Flora on Wood
Original Acrylic PanelsTroy sources sustainably milled Canadian birch panels, hand-sanding the grain and sealing it with natural rabbit-skin glue and gesso. Microscopic stippling and golden moon halos are laid down with Japanese sumi inks and acrylic washes.
Soft Entities & Atlantic Cedar
Tactile Textile SculpturesGreebs take physical form on heavy cotton duck canvas. After hand-screenprinting the entity’s eyes and lichen patterns, Troy sews the seams with heavy upholstery thread and packs each entity with fragrant Nova Scotia cedar shavings.

Rooted in the Atlantic woods, charting visions from the subconscious.
Troy Benoit is a self-taught visual artist based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Working across fine acrylic painting, illustration, silkscreen printing, tattooing, and soft sculpture, his work emerges from an instinctive reverence for natural symmetry, wild flora, animal spirits, and half-remembered dreams.
Rather than detached abstraction, Troy’s practice celebrates tactile craft: hand-grinding pigments onto raw birch, pulling screenprints through fine mesh with manual squeegees, and stuffing canvas entities with fragrant Atlantic cedar shavings.
His pieces have been showcased through premier Canadian galleries including Argyle Fine Art in Halifax, adapted into laser-cut heirloom wooden puzzles with Puzzle Lab, and celebrated in regional maker gatherings like The Dartmouth Makers and the Relics Music Festival.
